Back to the old beige tower
It started, as these things usually do, with a small mistake and too much confidence. Old manuals are far better written than they need to be, and I read them for pleasure now. It took me two seasons to notice what I had been getting wrong with the old beige tower.
I spent a weekend tracing one bad solder joint and felt like a genius for about an hour. It's the kind of small job that I put off for several months and then finish in an afternoon. The honest answer is that I don't know why it worked this time.
It will still be there next week.
I'm in no hurry, and that may be the main thing I've learned.
