Some thoughts on the yellowed case

One quiet Tuesday evening I finally sat down with my notes on the yellowed case. The picture rolls slowly until the monitor warms up, and I've grown rather fond of that. I wrote down what I'd done at the time, and that's the only reason I can repeat it.

What went wrong

It takes four minutes to load from tape and then fails with an error on the last block, every single time. My desk is now mostly cables whose purpose I've forgotten and can't bring myself to throw out. I've kept at it mostly out of curiosity, and partly out of stubbornness.

I keep a note of these things now, because I forget them faster than I'd like. My notes on the yellowed case go back further than I expected, and they don't flatter me. I could have avoided the whole thing by reading my own notes from last year.

So there it is: a small step, and probably not the last one with the yellowed case.
